Everyday objects up close

giz-fork

Gizmodo has been doing some very cool features on photography lately led by blogger Mark Wilson. One of the latest involved asking readers to submit photos of everyday objects shot in a unique way.

The winning reader submission, seen above, looks extraordinary for something so ordinary.

91 Common Objects As You’ve Never Seen Them Before, Mark Wilson, via Gizmodo.

Rain, Rain, Go Away! Yeah, I was stuck inside, so I was taking lots of pictures of kitchen stuff. This is a fork on my dinner table. This was taken with my Canon Rebel XS using a Tamron 18-270 at 270mm. I shot at ISO 100, 0.3 sec, at f9 (even at f9, with so much zoom and being so close to the subject, you can still see the left & right notches are slightly out of focus compared to the center…).

There are some very cool examples of macro photography in this set that go to show just how many great shots surround us every day if we know where to look.

Check out more great photos from this group at the Gizmodo Flickr group.
