Mirrored edges are a great way to achieve a photo-wrapped look without cutting into the subjects of your photo.
Today’s design tip is for more advanced users familiar with photo editing software such as Photoshop. This method works really well on landscapes, abstracts, as well as distance shots of people. Here’s how to do it.
In this example we’ll assume we’re making a 24 x 8″, 1.5 inch gallery stretch canvas.
Step 1: Crop your image accordingly: 24 x 8″
Step 2: In your image editing software, enlarge your canvas size to 28 x 12″ (Image > Canvas Size > 28 x 12″)
Now you should have a two inch white border.
Step 3: With your marquee tool, highlight the left side of white space and drag into the inner edge of your image. Copy and paste.
Now you should have a new layer of the edge of your photo.
Step 4: Grab the inner side of the copied image and drag towards the outer edge of the canvas.
Repeat on the right side.
Step 5: Flatten your file and repeat for the top and bottom.
