Fall is arguably the most beautiful time of the year. The changing leaves always make for a great photo backdrop, but you’ll need to take advantage of them quickly!

Before the orange, red and yellow hues of the season run out, we’ve come up with a few fall photo opportunities. Why not start planning some day trips?

1. TAKE A NATURE HIKE
Take your family on a fall adventure through a nearby forest and experience the colorful leaves. The beautiful foliage will help make any photo stand out. Play around with your favorite Instagram filters to make the leaves really pop!

2. CAPTURE SOME FAMILY PHOTOS
Whether done by a professional or with your own camera on a timer, it’s a perfect time of year to update your family portrait. Pick a spot that’s extra scenic for the shoot. While you’re at it, bring a lunch and have a picnic! These photos also make great holiday gifts as photos on canvas.

3. VISIT A PUMPKIN PATCH
Bring your kids to the local pumpkin patch for the day, odds are it’s only a short drive away! Not only will this setting make for some amazing fall photos, but you’ll also have fun picking out that perfect pumpkin to carve.

4. GO APPLE PICKING
Apples are the fruit of fall — plan a family trip to a nearby orchard which will make for a perfect seasonal photo opportunity. It’s a great setting for some candid portraits or unique landscape photos.

5. GET LEAFY
Rake together some leaf piles and have your family cut loose. Jump in the leaves, throw them around, be spontaneous! It will be easy to capture these fun memories in a photograph.

EXTRA TIP
If possible, try taking your photos just after sunrise, or before sunset. This is when the natural lighting will be softest, and will create some of the best and most colourful photos. Have fun!
