Spring is finally here! It’s the perfect time for a new start, and a new home makeover. We’ve come up with 5 simple ideas to help you outfit your home in celebration of the new season. Do you have any great ideas on how to brighten up your space? Share with us in the comments.
POPS OF COLOR
Color tends to go into hiding during the winter months, so bringing it back out is key for the spring season. Spruce up your living room with some brightly colored throw pillows, or a new area rug to really liven things up. Buy some soft pastel accents for the kitchen, or change up your drapery with something fun and patterned. If you’re looking for a bigger change and don’t mind the extra work, play around with the colors of your walls. A tranquil color like mint green or lilac can do wonders for a space.
CREATE NEW WALL ART
Purchase some new canvas prints for your home, and give those tired walls a face-lift. Search through your best photos and try to stick with the spring theme as much as possible. Nature photos, macro shots of blooming flowers, or shots that are generally colorful and bright all work perfectly. That’s what spring is all about!
ADD SOME FLOWERS AND PLANTS
Nothing says spring like fresh flowers, and plants in the home. Treat yourself to a bountiful bouquet to adorn your kitchen table, or living room shelf. Scatter some small vases filled with tulips, or some potted plants around the home. Not only will they freshen up the look of your space, but it will smell great as well! For the kitchen, start an indoor herb garden next to a window that gets plenty of sunlight.
DECLUTTER AND MAKE SOME SPACE
Time to get get started on your spring cleaning! This annual tradition is hard work, but it definitely pays off. There is nothing more satisfying than a squeaky clean space, without all the clutter that builds up during the winter. Check out this helpful checklist from Martha Stewart, before you get started.
GIVE SOMETHING OLD A NEW LOOK
Spring is all about rejuvenation, so why not breathe some new life into something old? Re-stain or re-paint some bleak looking furniture, to give it a shiny new look. Replace the knobs and handles on the cabinets in your kitchen, or change the look of your living room couches with some new slipcovers. Refurbishing old items is the perfect idea for the decorator on the budget.
