1 Second Everyday App Review

1 Second Everyday App Review

Mobile Monday is a weekly CanvasPop blog series featuring reviews on some of the coolest mobile photography apps, or gear available. Check back on Mondays for a new review!

We’ve written about the concept of filming one second of each day of your life in the past, and still really love this idea. So we were pretty stoked when we came across the iPhone app 1 Second Everyday by Cesar Kuriyama. You may recognize Kuriyama’s name from his video of the same name that went viral about a year ago. He filmed one second, each day for an entire year when he was 30 years old.

The app allows you to do the exact same thing, and helps you stitch the short videos that you take together so that you can later share with family and friends. When you first get the app going, you’ll be prompted to take a quick app tutorial where you’ll be able to get familiar with all it’s icons. Once you’ve gotten started, the app opens up to an interactive calendar which will already be filled with any videos you’ve previously taken with your phone.

The days that are highlighted in orange, have longer videos available that you just need to pick a 1 second snippet from. Once you’ve done so, the day will change to a screenshot of that video to show it’s complete. To shoot a new video, simply click on the camera icon in the top left hand corner. The camera allows you to take a longer video so you have more footage to choose from, and automatically saves to the appropriate date on your calendar.

Once you have enough snippets available, you can click the compile button in the top left hand corner of your screen to have the app stitch them all together for you. Choose to stitch together an entire month, year, or custom set of dates. Once complete, the app will store the finished video to your reels.

1SE is definitely simple enough to use on a daily basis, and makes compiling your own life documentation nice and easy. One of our favorite features is the built in reminders, which you can set for different times throughout the day so that you remember to capture your special moments.

What you choose to document daily is up to you! In case you haven’t had the chance to watch Kuriyama’s viral video yet, you can check it out below.

1SE is currently available for the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad with a iOS of 5.0 or later, for only $0.99. Coming soon to Android, so stay tuned!
