We find that we have a certain appreciation for the rain. How it can change the mood of the day, and the look of the world outside your window. We especially love how a rainy day can completely transform a photo, often resulting in a dramatic and interesting shot.
When shooting in the rain the most important thing to remember, is to protect your equipment. Keep a dry, clean cloth with you at all times and keep wiping your gear down. Wear a rain protective jacket so that you can tuck your camera under it while shooting. Lastly, try your best not to switch out your lens if you can help it. If you’re looking for some extra pointers on taking photos in the rain, check out these tips from National Geographic photographer Jim Richardson.
To really get our creative juices flowing, we took a look through Flickr’s Creative Commons to find some of the best examples of rain photography. We really find they showcase just how versatile the rainy seasons can be! What do you think of our choices? Share with us in the comments!
