Artist Salavat Fidai creates sculptures that are marvellously intricate and detailed, but taking into account that these sculptures are carved into the lead at the end of a pencil, they seem nearly impossible.
Fidai specializes in tiny artworks, having created miniature painted scenes as well, and the pencil lead sculptures are just one facet of that. Using a tiny and precise carving tool, Fidai works away the lead to reveal a creation. The tedious process can be seen in some Instagram videos posted on Fidai’s profile, including proof that with one minute slip of the tool the whole sculpture could be destroyed.
Take a look below to see a timelapse of a Wall-E sculpture being created, which in real time took over 8 hours to create.
