When it comes to communicating these days, most people rely on their smartphones. While these devices do facilitate conversation and communication, how helpful exactly are they? Do they really help us connect with others or are they just distracting us from meaningful interactions?
Shiyang He, a designer at Ogilvy, designed a set of ads that show the negative effects smartphones can have on human interactions. His work highlights how iPhones and Samsung Galaxy phones act as a barrier of connecting with one another.
The ads, which were created for the Shenyang Center for Psychological Research, showcase individuals in typical home settings divided by large smartphones.
If the imagery of everyday life being intruded by smartphones wasn’t enough, Shiyang reminds us to put people first with the statement “The More You Connect, The Less You Connect”.
