iPhone 6s Camera Review

One of the most revolutionary aspects of mobile phones today is their camera features. When it comes to Apple’s iPhone, the camera specs are so strong they now have the ability to replace a compact camera. You’ll never leave home without the ability to snap a quality photo on the fly.

If you were lucky enough to get your hands on the new iPhone 6s today, one of the first things you likely checked out was the camera quality. If you’re still on the fence about getting one, here’s the down-low on its specs!

Like its predecessor, the iPhone 6s camera boasts a panorama option, burst mode, face detection, timer mode, image stabilization, HDR, exposure control, and a sapphire crystal lens cover. What’s new is a 12-megapixel iSight camera, Live Photos (more on that below), improved noise reduction, and 4k video recording. They’ve also upgraded the front facing camera which now had retina flash, and 5-megapixel photos compared to 1.2-megapixels.

Live Photo is easily the neatest new feature included with the 6s camera. When using Live Photo your phone automatically captures the moments just before and after a photo is taken. It even captures movement and sound. So you’re left with a nifty little video (not dissimilar to a .gif), to relive the memory over and over. You can even set it as your lockscreen!

The iPhone 6s gives you the ability to record 4k videos, which means your videos will be 4x better than a standard HD video. That’s lightyears ahead of the iPhone 6’s 1080p HD video option. The video feature also includes a zoom in option while shooting or during playback, and optical image stabilization which means your videos will have less noise and better lighting.

Selfie enthusiasts rejoice! The iPhone 6s will having you taking you taking your best selfies yet with its Retina HD display being used as a flash. You can also access the front facing camera immediately with the new “Take Selfie” action. Simply hold down your finger on the camera icon to bring up an options menu. Hit “Take Selfie” to activate the front facing camera for those emergency selfie situations.
