The Mos have been a’growin’ and the donations have been a’flowin’ here at CanvasPop. This year’s CanvasMo Movember team consisted of four ‘stache-sporting men who gave their all to raise awareness and funds for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer.
Why did they do it? Aside from the obvious glory and attention…

Spencer, Director of Marketing:
“The discomfort of growing a moustache, and damn is this thing itchy, is nothing compared to the discomfort of something like prostate cancer. Doing something so trivial as growing facial hair is a small sacrifice for such an important cause.”

Dave, Production Manager:
“I was inspired by Spencer’s dedication to looking ridiculous for a good cause and figured if he can do it, I can do it better.”

Kyle, Sales Manager:
“Cancer has touched many members in my family, so having the chance to raise awareness through Movember is something I definitely wanted to be a part of.”

CanvasPop’s handlebar-ing men raised $750 online and at the office. Our Chief Cookie Bro, Stephen—an honourary MoBro who just couldn’t manage to grow a ‘stache—even baked cookies for staff to gorge on with a donation to the Movember Team.
Congrats to the CanvasMo team!

CanvasPop’s own Andrew Rashotte recently organized an absolutely awesome charity event at The Standard that mixed what we think are the finer things in life: canvas printing, photography, lots of friends, and helping sick kids.
Andrew and his crew contacted 10 skate photographers reaching from Ottawa to Los Angeles and asked them to donate one photo each for the event. These were then put on canvas by CanvasPop and displayed at a silent auction at The Standard, with all the proceeds going to the Make-a-Wish foundation.
The event was a huge success and raised nearly $2500 for the charity, and we’re so proud to have been part of it!

On Thursday, May 27th, 2010 Toronto’s Hope House Fundraiser aims to raise $50,000 for Hope House, a school in Calcutta being built by the Kids With Cameras Foundation, a charity born from the Academy Award Winning documentary ‘Born into Brothels’.
Each photo canvas featured at this special fundraiser represents a personal story of self-discovery and empowerment through the photographic works of the children (a skill taught to them by Co-Director and on screen presence Zana Briski)… Read More about the Hope House Fundraiser.
