We’ve launched our new Instagram integration and want to print your Instagram photos on canvas! Whether you’re a newbie or addict, we’re featuring a series of tips, tricks and techniques to help you harness the power of your iPhone’s camera, unleash your creativity, and capture the world around you.
But first, let’s start with some basics!
Make sure your iPhone’s camera lens is clean.
It sounds like a no-brainer, but a fingerprint and grime-free lens isn’t always top-of-mind. Make an effort to give the lens a little cleaning with a soft cloth (or sleeve!) at least once a day.
Have fun with filters.
Instagram comes with 15+ pre-programmed filters to give your photos some pizazz right off the hop. Spot a man on the street wearing a 70’s tracksuit? Filter him into his own era with the “1977” filter. Snap a photo of your little girl with an ear-to-ear grin? Preserve her innocence in black and white with the “Inkwell” filter.
Get perspective.
Shooting from different perspectives can turn an ordinary photo into something extraordinary, just by playing with composition through angles, space, depth, and distance.
These were taken with Instagram, but are completely different images thanks to a little experimentation (and filter fun!).
Follow some new friends and #tag your photos.
Browse Instagram for photos and follow new people to see the world in a different light, be inspired, and share your photos. And don’t forget that Instagram supports hashtags—like #CanvasPop—to catagoerize your photos and help others discover them. Tag your photos with #CanvasPop for a chance to win an Instagram Photo of the Day Award and a free Instagram photo on canvas!

You probably have great pictures sitting right in your iPhone (or whatever camera phone you use) but did you know that you can print these pictures at any size? Todd Bernhard of iPhone Life magazine snapped a picture on his brand new iPhone, uploaded it to CanvasPop and shows us how to print iPhone pictures on canvas.
Stop taking pictures and start taking works of art with CanvasPop!

If Yogi Berra were to assess today’s use of cameras he might say: “Nobody takes photographs anymore… they’re too busy taking pictures.” If you’re like me, you have thousands of digital pictures stored on hard drives and online galleries but only print a tiny fraction of them. Once in a while we’ll find “a keeper” and enlarge it to 11″x14″ and frame it, but by and large, photos stay on the computer and maybe a digital photo frame.
With this in mind, I tried something new. CanvasPop is an easy-to-use service that accepts digital photos and turns them into works of art. You can select from a wide assortment of sizes and finishing options. Available effects are Comic Book, Color Sketch, Pop Art, Sepia, Vintage, Black & White, Lomo, Color Isolate and Oil Painting.
Since the result is delivered on canvas on a wooden frame, I went with ‘Oil Painting’ to complete the effect. The result looks like it was painted, complete with drips and drabs, so you should decide if you want something photo realistic or more impressionistic.
The photo you submit doesn’t necessarily have to be a 10 megapixel high resolution image, especially if you’re going to use one of their special effects. The 5 megapixel camera in the new iPhone 4 should do the trick. Read More!

Fitting? Yes…Creative? Absolutely!!… I just had share the artistic works of Ben Heine
a Belgian painter, illustrator, portraitist, caricaturist and photographer from Brussels.
This particular image is part of his “Pencil vs. Camera” series that combines photos with
pencil drawings by superimposing the sketch onto the photo. Ben will take his own photos
and consider the image as a battle between the drawing and the photograph.
“The great thing is that the photo and drawing are 2 different ways of expression but they go
well together and they definitely have the same purpose: share an idea, an emotion, a
concept or a message.” Ben Heine

I gave it as a Christmas gift when they first got him and I thought this shot would highlight a nice contrast between what Murphy looks like now compared to when he was only a few months old! Still have to get it on the wall somewhere though. This one is definitely a favorite."

3) Krystal had this to say about her photo! "Our kids posing today next to the CanvasPop that keeps the dream of summer alive. We live in Canada's Yukon Territory and it normally hangs in our living room. This picture was such a hit that we ordered two more as gifts for their grandmothers who both live thousands of miles away."

4) Brandon created this Illustration as an xmas gift for my wife. It was one image converted into a horizonatal triptych.

5) Mike had this to say about his submission "This is a CanvasPop print of a good friend's dog, Murphy. I gave it as a Christmas gift when they first got him and I thought this shot would highlight a nice contrast between what Murphy looks like now compared to when he was only a few months old! Still have to get it on the wall somewhere though. This one is definitely a favourite."

6) David's Story: This photo was taken in NE Utah inside Canyonlands National Park. It's a very popular photo spot. Had to wake up at 5AM and drive 45 min into the park. Fought for my spot amongst 6 other photographers. But to see the intense orange glow under the arch at sunrise was well worth the effort.

8) Ben bought his parents this canvas print from Canvaspop.com for Christmas. The picture was taken around the winter of 08/09 of our dog Molly who passed away last year.

9) Casey took home this scooter from Rome and put it in his basement. He needed more red in his life.

10) Karen took this photo while snorkeling in the Bahamas. She heard a boat motor, looked up & saw this shot. 3 birds on a rock, 3 men in the boat. Now she has this giant canvas on her wall and can relive this moment every time she walks into her bedroom! Love it!!

As part of the Official Launch of CanvasPop last fall, we offered our customers the chance to have their canvas prints displayed on the Reuters billboard in the center of New York City’s Times Square. Each canvas was displayed for 15 seconds on one of the biggest digital billboards in Times Square for more than 1.5 million people to see. (7,400 square feet to be more exact) How cool is that!
A big thanks to all of our first customers who waited so patiently to see their photos displayed in Times Square. Getting everything together for this huge promo took a little longer than we initially expected, but we’re excited to finally share the photos.
Here are just some of the photos of the canvas prints on display in New York’s Times Square!

The photo enlargements we print on canvas for our customers always have a story that we love to hear.
Susan from Atlanta, Georgia shares this touching story about her photo enlargement with CanvasPop. The original photo of this sculpture nicknamed the “The Bean” was taken at the center of the AT&T Plaza in Millennium Park in Chicago, Illinois from a business trip last summer.

Susan chose this particular photo to create a photo enlargement for her husband’s Valentine’s Day gift this year. Seven years ago, her husband Alan had to have a kidney transplant and Susan was lucky enough to be his donor. The Doctors never imagined that she would be a match for him, but she insisted on being tested for compatibility. To all of their amazement, she was a match.
Susan had this to say about their special bond. “The anniversary of our surgery date is always a special day for us and this photo was taken last year on our kidney anniversary day. Since I was out of town on business and we were unable to be together to celebrate – this photo has even a little more meaning!”
What did Alan think of the photo enlargement?
Susan tells us that “Alan loved it! Thought it was the greatest thing! He couldn’t believe that I found a company that could do this. He (like myself) was honored when I read your email to him about CanvasPop wanting to feature it on the blog! …We’ve even started thinking about the next photo we want to have done! I promise – you’ll be hearing from us again!”
Thanks so much to Susan for sharing your story with us. The whole team at CanvasPop is honored that we could create this special photo enlargement for you and your husband.
