It’s been a snappy week at the Consumer Electronic Show (CES)! We’re featuring Photojojo’s most noteworthy camera stories from CES—that means a round-up of the newest releases and fanciest features of the hottest new cameras.
Polaroid
The Polaroid Z340 and the SC1630 Smart Camera.
Like many Polaroid fans, we weren’t sure how to feel about the shift from analog to digital. Polaroid must’ve read our minds because they’ve kicked the look of their Z340 back a couple of decades, and we like it.
Fuji
The Fuji X-Pro1
It’s Fuji’s new mirrorless! What makes this one shine is its large 16MP sensor and the fact that it has an interchangeable lens mount (with 3 lens options) — something the X100 and X10 were missing.
Canon
The Powershot G1 X
Fanciest point-and-shoot ever? Yes.
At $800, it’ll cost you a pretty penny, but at least you’ll have a ginormous 14.3MP sensor to photograph that penny. That’s about as big as a DSLR’s sensor! The other rad thing about this camera is that its lens is f/2.8 to f/16 which means you can get some nice depth of field.
Nikon
Nikon’s D4 DSLR
The D4 is indeed Nikon’s newest, and it’s an awesome beast of camera. A full-frame 16.2MP sensor and 204,800 ISO means you can capture photos in incredibly dim light. Plus, it’s equipped with a 3D Matrix Meter III, a really long name for its ability to measure light and color very precisely. It’s going for $6,000, but it’s as good as it gets when it comes to Nikon DSLRs.
These are just a few of the most noteworthy CES findings, check out Photojojo’s full list and start shooting! You’ll be on your way to creating personalized art on canvas in no time.
You probably have great pictures sitting right in your iPhone (or whatever camera phone you use) but did you know that you can print these pictures at any size? Todd Bernhard of iPhone Life magazine snapped a picture on his brand new iPhone, uploaded it to CanvasPop and shows us how to print iPhone pictures on canvas.
Stop taking pictures and start taking works of art with CanvasPop!

If Yogi Berra were to assess today’s use of cameras he might say: “Nobody takes photographs anymore… they’re too busy taking pictures.” If you’re like me, you have thousands of digital pictures stored on hard drives and online galleries but only print a tiny fraction of them. Once in a while we’ll find “a keeper” and enlarge it to 11″x14″ and frame it, but by and large, photos stay on the computer and maybe a digital photo frame.
With this in mind, I tried something new. CanvasPop is an easy-to-use service that accepts digital photos and turns them into works of art. You can select from a wide assortment of sizes and finishing options. Available effects are Comic Book, Color Sketch, Pop Art, Sepia, Vintage, Black & White, Lomo, Color Isolate and Oil Painting.
Since the result is delivered on canvas on a wooden frame, I went with ‘Oil Painting’ to complete the effect. The result looks like it was painted, complete with drips and drabs, so you should decide if you want something photo realistic or more impressionistic.
The photo you submit doesn’t necessarily have to be a 10 megapixel high resolution image, especially if you’re going to use one of their special effects. The 5 megapixel camera in the new iPhone 4 should do the trick. Read More!

A Picture on the Wall? Why Not Do the Whole Wall?
While digital cameras have largely shoved aside film cameras, how we store and show off our snapshots has changed little since the heyday of Kodachrome. Overstuffed shoeboxes have simply been replaced with cluttered hard drives and Flickr streams, leatherbound albums supplanted by Facebook uploads.
Luckily, however, one perk of the digital age is the opportunity to use printing techniques and materials once reserved for professionals.
Some of these can take favorite photos and turn them into works of art that go beyond oversize prints, like custom wallpaper, murals and decals. The services cost more than the one-hour photo hut, but the results can be stunning.
STRETCHING ONTO CANVAS Some companies offer the option to create stretched canvas pictures. The effect is instant art, ready to be hung. CanvasPop.com specializes in taking everyday photos, including candids snapped with a camera phone, and blowing them up without losing detail. Company technicians work on each image to ensure that an iPhone photo looks as good stretched across four feet as it does on a 4.5-inch screen. Read More!

The photo enlargements we print on canvas for our customers always have a story that we love to hear.
Susan from Atlanta, Georgia shares this touching story about her photo enlargement with CanvasPop. The original photo of this sculpture nicknamed the “The Bean” was taken at the center of the AT&T Plaza in Millennium Park in Chicago, Illinois from a business trip last summer.

Susan chose this particular photo to create a photo enlargement for her husband’s Valentine’s Day gift this year. Seven years ago, her husband Alan had to have a kidney transplant and Susan was lucky enough to be his donor. The Doctors never imagined that she would be a match for him, but she insisted on being tested for compatibility. To all of their amazement, she was a match.
Susan had this to say about their special bond. “The anniversary of our surgery date is always a special day for us and this photo was taken last year on our kidney anniversary day. Since I was out of town on business and we were unable to be together to celebrate – this photo has even a little more meaning!”
What did Alan think of the photo enlargement?
Susan tells us that “Alan loved it! Thought it was the greatest thing! He couldn’t believe that I found a company that could do this. He (like myself) was honored when I read your email to him about CanvasPop wanting to feature it on the blog! …We’ve even started thinking about the next photo we want to have done! I promise – you’ll be hearing from us again!”
Thanks so much to Susan for sharing your story with us. The whole team at CanvasPop is honored that we could create this special photo enlargement for you and your husband.

Today, I have decided to feature a “Thursday Find”. This photo was taken by Nikki Jane and it’s in the original form, no Photoshop was used. This is hard to believe with all the photo editing software on the market. She captured a great shot!
According to Nickki’s Flickr Photostream it was a super nice day out when she first started and then the wind and rain/ hail moved in before the sun appeared again.
Congrats again on spectacular image.
